What was your best Netflix binge?
My best Netflix binge is ongoing… and never gets old. I will preface this with by saying I am a fan of OINB, of House of Cards and that my husband and I can go days only speaking to one another in Arrested Development quotes. However, the best is when I have time to binge on Gossip Girl. I own my GG binging because it’s something I get to enjoy when I am 100% alone – no husband, no baby. GG is the ultimate guilty pleasure in my book.
What is your biggest irrational (or rational) fear?
I don’t think many people would be able to guess my biggest fear: deep water. I say this because I worked as a swim lesson instructor and lifeguard for about five years; prior to that, I was (and still am) an avid swimmer. This irrational fear has a rational foundation, however: When I was little, perhaps five or six, I fell off of a tube on a lazy river in a natural spring. The lifeguard on duty stood on a floating platform about twenty feet away yelling at me to get back in my tube but plants from the spring’s bottom wrapped around my legs, preventing me from swimming. Bottom line: if I can’t see the bottom, I won’t go. Or if I do go, I will hyperventilate.
What was your favorite high school extracurricular?
Speech Team! (Yes, it is every bit as cool as it sounds). The relationships I made while on the team are to this day the strongest and most important – even ten years post-high school.
What was your favorite course in school?
I am an arts person – so my favorite was anything that didn’t have math or science. Most social workers will joke that they chose this career because it involved 1 math class in college. When I make that joke I am 100% serious.
Who is your femme crush & why?
I am 100% confident that if Taylor Swift and I were to meet in person we would become best friends and/or fall in love. With a complete understanding that celebrities make bank of the façade they show to the public, I really feel like Taylor is genuine and a good person.
Describe your perfect date?
“That’s a tough one. I would have to say April 25th because it’s not too hot and not too cold. All you need is a light jacket.”
What was the worst date you’ve ever been on?
Worst Date (Clean): I went to dinner with a guy in my statistics class during undergrad. He exercised his manly duties by ordering for me, on the first date… it all went down hill from there.
Worse Date (Dirty): I went on a date with a guy I had met while lifeguarding in high school. At the end of the night, instead of walking me to my door and maybe giving me a kiss he said, “A lot of girls offer to give me head and I always turn them down. But if you asked, I bet I’d say yes.” Needless to say, that was the first and last interaction with that one.
Who is the woman who inspires you most?
A social worker at the clinic I work at. She is 86-years-old and is currently working on her supervised hours to obtain her clinical license.
When was a time you felt most complete?
There have been so very many changes in my life recently… but I always feel 100% whole when I have my daughter in my arms.
